The Executive Committee, which includes its four elected officers, is the governing body of the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress. The ACSC President serves as chair and appoints four members to the Committee. Three Ex Officio members represent the following institutions: Center for Legislative Archives, U.S. Senate Historical Office, U.S. House Office of Information and Preservation. The immediate past president also serves as a member of the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee administers the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress. It appoints and oversees all ACSC working groups, committees and task forces. The Executive Committee approves the annual budget for submission to the membership and oversees the financial management of the Association. The Executive Committee submits bylaws to the membership for approval and solicits officer nominations from the membership, selects a slate of candidates, oversees elections, and reports results. The Executive Committee appoints a Program Committee for each annual meeting of the Association. All committees and task forces, through their respective chairs, will prepare reports for review by the Executive Committee that will be presented to the membership at the annual meeting and subsequently posted on the website.

Scholarships and Awards Committee

The Scholarship and Awards Committee is responsible for advertising, soliciting applications for, and determining the recipients of the Ray Smock Award for first-time attendees to the annual meeting, the CPS Scholarship, and the Richard Baker Award for scholarship on Congress.

The Scholarship and Awards Committee consists of no more than 5 members (including the chair). Members serve two-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms.


Annual Meeting Program Committee

The Program Committee is charged with development of the program for the annual meeting.

The Program Committee consists of no more than 10 members and changes annually. The President shall appoint a chair, and at least one representative of the host institution shall serve on the Committee. The President, Treasurer, and Secretary will serve as ex officio members.


Communications Committee

The Communications Committee manages the publicity activities of the ACSC as a way to share information among current members, potential members, scholars, and the general public. The Communications Committee maintains the ACSC website and social media pages and consistently refreshes content on those platforms. Content may be unique or solicited from member institutions.

The Communications Committee consists of no more than 7 members who serve two-year terms. Members may serve two consecutive terms.


Membership Committee

The Membership Committee shall work on initiatives to recruit and retain members, such as identifying potential new members, developing member benefits, and overseeing the maintenance of the member list serv. The Membership Committee will work closely with the Treasurer and Secretary, as well as with the Communications Committee.

The Membership Committee shall have no more than 7 members. Members serve two-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms. The Vice President chairs the committee, and the Treasurer serves as an ex officio member.
