ASSOCIATION OF CENTERS FOR THE STUDY OF CONGRESS

The ACSC Privacy Policy

The Association of the Centers for the Study of Congress (ACSC) currently collects three types of information from its web site: (1) your IP (Internet Protocol) address; (2) information voluntarily submitted on the membership application form; (3) e-mails sent to a representative of ACSC; and, (4) cookies (user discretion).

The ACSC uses your IP address to help diagnose problems with our virtual private server and to administer our Web site quality. The ACSC does not use IP addresses to personally identify users. A log file of IP addresses is used to determine which areas of our site visitors visit frequently based on the volume of traffic. This is used to better prepare ACSC's future site content. Usage patterns of individual users are not tracked. Instead, we track how well each page on our site performs overall.

Information voluntarily disclosed to the ACSC either online or in writing through the membership application, meeting registration forms, survey responses, and e-mail is added to the ACSC database to enable processing of a request through the appropriate response and/or confirmation. The ACSC may distribute further relevant information to individuals identified in this way. The ACSC, on occasion, may also correspond with third parties for co-marketing or other activities related to the ACSC's goals and objectives and allow them to use select member information under strict confidentiality agreements.

Any information sent to the ACSC in a non-electronic form may also be used in this way. Any individuals who would like to "opt out" of receiving additional communications from the ACSC should contact us to have their names removed from our database. Any corrections or other changes can also be made by e-mailing info@congresscenters.org or by calling (706) 542-5766.

The ACSC takes appropriate measures to assure the reliability of member information and to protect it from misuse or alteration. Private member information is protected from public access by a firewall enabled in the content management site's settings.

Use of Cookies

Bits of information that are stored on your computer when you visit a web site are called "cookies." They can be used to store your personalization information such as user names and passwords. Using this type of technology is an option available to each individual user on their personal computers.
